Vivekananda Rock Memorial is considered as one of the very popular and sacred places especially to Hindus which is located in the southernmost tip of India i.e., Vivathura in Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The most interesting fact is one will be amazed to know that it stands on one of the two rocks which is located almost 500 meter away from the mainland Vivathura. This rock was built in the year 1970 by Vivekananda Rock Memorial committee in the honor of Swami Vivekananda to Shripada Parai for their deep meditation. Swami Vivekananda swam across to that rock and mediated for the past, present and future of India and their itself he got the enlightenment and therefore he became a philosopher and a reformer.It is also said and believed that the rock is also blessed by the sacred feet of Devi Kumari, here you will see the foot print of Devi Kumari which is little brownish in complexion and more like a human foot. It is said that Devi Kumari has performed austerity there.Another attracting feature is for the the tourist, that is the meditation hall is attached to the memorial for the tourist to meditate. Another exciting feature is one will also able to see the merger of three sea, Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea from the rock itself.

The timing for the tourist to visit the memorial from morning 7 am to 4 pm in the afternoon, the entry fee for the memorial is Rs. 10 and since you have to take a ferry to reach to the rock as it is already said above that the rock is in the middle of sea, so ferry is the only option and the fare for it is Rs. 20 only.
